As I said, I expected to get flamed, so thanks for not letting me down. (-;
But let me clarify:
I do not propose banning anyone, and the purpose of my post was to prevent the springs being closed due to health problems, which, according to the post that I read that started this, could be coming from dog doo, or baby poo getting into the pools.
I suggest that we do prove or disprove the theory that it is caused by poo by doing a test. How much does this test cost?
IF the test shows that the protozoa IS the one theorized, that does come from poop, then we should act responsibly and try to prevent it.
Increasing the water flow would be a good t hing.
As for the things people do that break rules and cause damage at the Springs, I totally agree that people do many things that are harmful. But since PEOPLE are the ones who go there, who make the roads to get there, who maintain the springs, who make the trails, etc., I do not propose that we ban them. :-D I do propose that the Forest Service enforce some of the more important rules. Mostly I propose that people act responsibly and not let their dogs get in the pools nor poop near the pools, and that people not have babies in the pools who could poop in it or in diapers that then seep into the pools.
