I've got a few old pictures of the "Welcome ranch" (now called Luna Vista)
One winter it snowed so hard we burned the chicken coop (after making soup out of all of the chickens). The hitching post also went into the woodstove
My memory of that old road into the canyon was people were always getting their cars stuck and the trash situation was much worse.
Gertie Bowen moved into town in the early 70s and we used to stop by and visit. She loved to entertain us 'kids' with stories of wild horses and the Indian family from Newberry springs that came to harvest pinyon nuts. She also told me that life out there was hard but she loved it. I didn't know her when she was still living at the ranch and I could tell she missed it.
Tal Winchell was another oldtimer that was really cool. The pool at Juniper Ranch was a great place to hang . The stone walls and shade of the buildings there provided a welcome refuge on hot summer days.
Also, some great times were had at the old Moss ranch when Annie, Lyle and Cindylee were livin there. The guitars were frequently playin out on the porch and everyone joined in with the rhythm by tappin their feet on the old wood floor.
