We had a similar situation with a Cooper's hawk a short time ago. He was unable to take flight to escape curious dogs, but appeared otherwise OK. We turned the bird over to Vet Ed in the Village, but the under-nourished bird died within a couple of days, very likely of West Nile virus.
Hope this fellow is OK, but suspect he is seriously ill.
