Item #7) DCV Summer Newsletter:

Ron shows the group a color copy of our summer newsletter. It is longer than our previous newsletter and features some photos as well as text. It has a report from a first-time visitor, an article on summer at the springs, an article with photos of the recent helicopter rescue, an article about a tour of other California hot springs, as well as a couple of shorter items. The newsletter is passed around for comments and corrections before being printed and distributed.

Item #8) Other Business:

1: We discuss the proposal by Sam D. to include a reference to candle wax on our brochure. We decide to make no changes to the brochure at this time. Candle wax is mentioned along with a number of other problems in the current brochure.

2: We discuss our non-profit status and decide to file for 501(c)(4) instead of 501(c)(3) because of the simplicity of the paperwork and the small size of our organization. Ron will pursue this and notify the group when the papers are filed.

3: Richard discusses his recent frequent visits and the increase in glass use, underage drinking, and camping during the summer months.
