I enjoyed going to the springs both Friday and Saturday, and saw lots of evidence that DCV is having a good effect there. No one with glass all day Friday, and only one glass user observed on Saturday. All daytime users were packing out their trash at the end of each day. Respect was evident throughout both days, with no sign of poor etiquette from anyone. Some trash was left by night users and campers, and gathered up by DCV and other volunteers, bagged and taken out. We removed another of the poles left by Scott as well as the fabric of his teepee tent, leaving only one pole yet to be carried out. We also observed no fresh candle wax around the pools.
Our monthly meeting was short but productive. We were joined at the end of the meeting by two USFS resource rangers who asked for our help in removing an invasive non-native plant from the area. We have tentatively scheduled this for Friday July 2nd at 9 a.m., and will be meeting with USFS personnel on the beach side of the springs. Anyone with some energy and willingness to help will be greatly appreciated.
The DCV meeting minutes will be posted here today or tomorrow. Many thanks to all our supporters and to all who work to keep the springs area clean, safe, and open. Thanks also to those nighttime users who are helping to spread good influence regarding candle wax, camping at the springs, toilet practices, and campfires.
