Item #4) Future events:
We discuss a fall cleanup, possibly focusing on Family Canyon. We set a date for the last Saturday in September for this event, and will decide on and announce a focus area shortly before the event. Suggestions are welcome. Sycamore and AZ Mike will work on a flyer for the event.
We discuss the possibility of registering as a 501(c)3 non-profit group. Ron will pursue the paperwork. It was noted that another group in our area, Friends of Juniper Flats, which shares some members with DCV, has recently completed the paperwork and formally incorporated as a non-profit. All present are favorable to this course of action.
We discuss the need to schedule more social events as well as clean-up events. Suggestions are:
A visit to Blacks Beach on July 4th.
A group to go to De Anza Springs for the June 12/13 weekend. De Anza is offering a free day pass.
San Onofre Day, July 10th.
Item #5) Newsletter:
Our first newsletter is shared with present members and discussed. We agree that we would like to put out a newsletter on a quarterly basis, one for each season. A newer member may take on the responsibility for putting out the newsletter. All present agree on this, pending acceptance of the responsibility from the newer member. For now, contributions for the next newsletter can be sent to Ron.
Item #6) Other:
We discuss having a banner made to display at our meetings and whenever our group does public presentations. Ron will check on prices for this. We agree that the banner should be a green background with yellow lettering, to match the colors on our brochure box. Sycamore suggests outlining the yellow letters in black, if doing so will not increase the cost too much.
End meeting minutes.
