In another thread, now closed, Katrina mistakenly asserts that closure of the J1299 trail would prevent horseback riders from using it. This is not the case. Closing the trail would only mean that motorized vehicles could not use it. This would be in keeping with previous work in the ACEC to eradicate a road that went down to the riparian area. A parking area was established to give the public access to the area without vehicles approaching the riparian and sensitive cultural areas.
The biggest problem with access of the area now is that a 4WD or high-clearance vehicle is needed to negotiate Juniper Flats Road to the ACEC. If Katrina truly wants to help the public with access, this would be a good place to focus some attention. As it is now, motorcycle access is the only thing that is being provided for by the BLM.
Why do Katrina's attempts to do "public service" always seem to involve personal agendas against property owners? Why, when this forum was for a time a very friendly place to discuss matters pertaining to DCHS and the surrounding areas, did Katrina have to go and find another axe to grind with another property owner? Was fair-minded, respectful debate and discussion too hard to handle? Can't we have differences of opinion without animosity?
