This is a satellite photo from farther back of the Cottonwood Springs area where the J1299 trail is under discussion:

There is a trail shown on this satellite photo that goes through Cottonwood Springs. Start from the upper left side of the photo (peace sign again) then at a 45 degree angle you can see a trail going from there to the darker area (where there would be increased foilage from a spring) then continuing at the 45 degree angle to Bowen Ranch Road which is at the lower right corner of the photo. The road before the Bowen Ranch Road is the Powerline Road.
