It was probably about 3 months ago or more when I had a discussion with Mr. Castro about FOJF. He stated then that some of his friends in the OHV community were worried that we (FOJF) would booby-trap trails with nails. I laughed at the idea and assured Mr. Castro that none of us were out to hurt anyone. I guess they got tired of waiting for us to do something so stupid and irresponsible.

I am proud to be a member of both DCV and FOJF. Both groups are focused on reaching goals that protect the area and benefit all users. I would not belong to a group that put people in danger or disregarded laws to achieve its goals.

In the LA Times article, Ed Waldheim was quoted as saying that he is "tired of being shut out." I like to go camping. Am I being "shut out" because I cannot camp on the miles of BLM lands devoted to OHV parks? We have many areas set aside for OHV use, but only a few set up as Areas of Critical Environmental Concern. (27 in the whole state) Motorcycle riding in these areas is about as appropriate as me setting up my tent in the middle of Johnson Valley.

I hope that Mr. Castro is truly not as childish as he appears to be. It seems that he is willing to throw away some long-standing friendships and good relations with people who have supported him publicly over his desire to get his way on his "favorite" trail. Shame on you, Mike!
