I got the LA Times article on illegal OHV travel around Juniper Flats today, in Section B, titled " California ". Wonder why Mr Castro can't look at the camera and smile? I see he has a shirt on with an American Flag. Must mean he thinks highly of our nation, but, apparently, he is not so supportive of all the laws of this nation, such as related to trail J1299, and many other illegal trails, that I have personally seen him travel, over the years. But then I have forgotten, that Mr Castro as the UNOFFICIAL law enforcement for the area, has a right to go where he wants with his motorized machine. Good to see this illegal OHV travel problem is getting some real attention for a change. Wow, amazing how the BLM rig gets FOUR flattened tires on one vehicle just days before this article comes out, an article which doesn't paint the BLM in a flattering light. Like Mohave said, I hike all around the area up there and your more likely to see an endangerd Desert Tortise, than a BLM vehicle, unless its on its way up the Bowen Ranch road to pay Mr Castro a visit. Nail strips, piano wire, roofing nails, hidden pipes, I have never seen anything like that in years of hiking those areas, zero. Think about it, would people who say " lets go to war ", " forget the courts or the law ", " put up your dukes so I can beat you up to get my way ", be shy about spreading false stories of nails, wire and pipes, against those opposed to them? What I see is that these people ( illegal OHV riders, Mike Castro, Mr Zipity, the BLM ) are being backed in a corner, they are mad because they can't just do as they please, they don't want to solve this problem in accordance with the current laws, they will use any tactic ( violence, vandalism, and the creation of false stories ) to continue thier past-time of riding, un-obstructed through these desert lands around Juniper Flats, Arrastre Canyon, and elsewhere locally. If there are such things as Karma, and Indian Spirits, these guys are in real trouble!
