EastBay, That certainly is an unsettling report about your friends car. I can tell you that on our trip out in our vehicle ( around dusk ) after leaving the springs we were going along route 4 and had actually come to the exact place where your friends car was parked and beleive it or not, Mike Castro was just coming up route 4 from the direction of the ranch. He stopped and we rolled down our window and he asked if we had heard anyone shooting in the area. We had music on and our windows up while driving so we had heard nothing. He didn't mention anything about the car and looked calm. The conversation was friendly and he didn't seem angry. Of course what goes on in the mind of a person can be much differant than what you see on the outside. Was Mike there looking for people shooting or were the reasons other than this. Without proof our thoughts are merely conjecture. We talked briefly to Mike Castro about the springs and then we both went on our way. I never did look closely at your friends car while we were there talking to Mike Castro so I couldn't say if the window was broken at that time. I wish I would have noticed. As far as considerations of whether Mike or others did this vandalism, that will probably remain a mystery unless some solid proof could be produced. Thats the problem with things like this in a remote area. Also Eastbay you were parked on Route 3 and not 4. I have never been vandalized in the 17 or so years I've been going to the springs and have parked at that spot I showed you countless times. I have never parked in the area your friends did but certainly would have told them not to if I thought there was any threat there. I'm really sorry for them that this happened, it just stinks. I think your friends should file a report if for nothing else, to establish a history of similiar events if they are occuring. If no one reports them then its like nothing ever happened. Unfortunately something like this presents a situation where the culprits ( or culprit ) will probably never be caught. Its a real shame. Eastbay you can e-mail me at hotspringswizard@hotmail.com , I would like to hear how your " exploring " went. Please tell your friends that I would have advised them not to leave their car at that spot but I did not think that their car was in any danger. Since I have never been vandalized it probably causes me not to think about the threat that much, there may be more of this going on than we realize, we just don't hear about it, or at least I haven't. Sorry again to hear about this unfortunate situation.
