Hello Drifter, I have been all over the terrain around DCHS and have see no evidence of a road leading all the way to these springs. There used to be a dirt road that came down into the Deep Creek canyon, all the way to the creek, to a large flat area called the Indian Camp which is upstream about a 20 minute hike from DCHS. This road ended there, being on the north side of Deep Creek, then a trail proceeds down stream to a point where it crosses and joins the PCT about 5 minutes walk upstream from DCHS. This road is now closed and destroyed by back hoes. Another road that was actually the closest place a person could drive to DCHS in times past came across the upperhills from HWY 173 to a point on a ridge above DCHS on its east side. You could look from the point of parking straight down the hill at the springs. This road was also closed and destroyed many years ago. One of these two roads is probably whats being to referred to in the information you got about a road going to DCHS. Hope that helps :-)
