I did a lengthy soak in the Womb recently and found that when I got home that evening I got those dang itchy red bumps again. We discused previously at this forum this particular problem that occurs for some people after long soaks in the Womb. I also talked to several other hotspringers who said they too had recently experienced this problem. One regular DCHS hotspringer suggested that he seemed to be only affected in long soaks in the womb, not the other pools. So the agent that is causing this symptom on some people is still active. I've noticed that the longer the time spent in the hotpool, the more prevelant are the symptoms of itchy red bumps. This time around, as in my previous experience with this problem, the syptoms gradually improve and disappear in about 24 to 48 hours with no apparent afteraffects. I do not notice this problem in the warmer months when my soaking time in the pools is much less due to the better weather. Now that I have been reminded by my recent experience of this ongoing problem I'll remember to reduce my soaking time in the Womb specifically, since it seems to be the pool most affected by this unknown agent. I think most folks soaking a few hours or less will probably not experience these symptoms or they will be pretty minor. After my long recent soak the bumps were so itchy that it kept me from sleeping for some hours the evening after my long soak. Just something to be aware of.
