Phone helps searchers find missing hikers

Two girls who became lost as they hiked along the Pacific Crest Trail to Deep Creek hot springs Thursday were found after they called for help on a cell phone.

Heather Kincart of Arcadia and Tondra Anderson of Alta Dena left the Lake Arrowhead area to walk along the trail. On the way home, they became disoriented and took a wrong turn, sheriff's officials said.

The girls called 911 at about 5 p.m. Members of the sheriff's Victor Valley and Lake Arrowhead search-and-rescue teams found them at 10 p.m. poorly clothed for the weather but in good health, sheriff's officials said.
