Good summary of the current situation in the San Bernardino Mountains. In addition, they have overdeveloped up there with regard to the number of fire exits. The Forest is a tinderbox waiting for any match. The firestorms were unbelievable and they will not risk that happening in the near future. To get a more accurate picture, you should attend some of the local meetings. The number of dead trees is insurmountable would take over five years of constant effort to remove all the trees according to news articles.

I have also heard that there is a huge investigation going on right now with regard to the fires. I have heard that many residents are hot because a water dropping helicopter was not allowed to drop water. Code enforcement has been out condemning properties.

I really think we need to really consider the reality of the situation and be patient to allow the forest to heal. The forest is a disaster area and it didn't get there overnight.
