Re: DCHS Still Closed

If anyone of you were to call Brad Burns, and ask, is DCHS open, can I go there now, Brad ( the USFS enforcement ranger for the DCHS area ) would tell you without hesitation, DCHS is closed till March 15, is it now stands. His tone in my conversation with him was not, DCHS is closed, but I'm cool with it if you all go to the springs, as long as there are no problems. The USFS obviously have thier hands full dealing with situations related to the recent big fires. Its true they do not have enough personel to cover all the bases, especially a currently low priority like DCHS. People will make thier own decisions on what to do about this closure, respect it, or ignore it. Should persons of the recently formed DCV group subtely imply that despite a forest closure for DCHS, the word is, there are no rangers in the area, no citations issued, your good to go, the coast is clear? A group that hands out an information flier that talks about obeying USFS rules? Its my belief that Mike Castro, putting himself in the position of being the " hands down " main access conduit to DCHS, should " make it " his business to be aware of the rules for the area for the benifit of his paying visitors. He is the one person in this world who makes money from DCHS visitation, and I would think he would make it part of his business to know what the status is, of the popular destination ( DCHS ) for the vast majority of people who come to his property. No, he is not obligated to do this, but, since he derives a meaningful monetary reward from those who use his services to reach DCHS, to my mind he should at least be abreast of wether the lands in the area ( specifically DCHS ) is open for visitation, or not, and if closed, advise visitors not to go there. If he is truly loyal to the USFS, as he stated several times to me in a past conversation, that would be the right thing to do.
