Angeles, unburned S.B. forest reopen
Thursday, November 06, 2003 - Two national forests will reopen today after closures put into effect late last month due to fire danger related to recent wildfires.
The Angeles National Forest was closed on Oct. 27, but has been cleared for reopening by Forest Supervisor Jody Cook.
Fire restrictions for the Angeles National Forest remain in effect, and forest officials warn that the risk of flooding and mudslides is high in burned areas.
In the San Bernardino National Forest, unburned areas will reopen to the public for weekend use, said Forest Supervisor Gene Zimmerman.
The area that remains closed includes all National Forest land between the Angeles National Forest on the west and Highway 330 on the east, with the exception of the area north of Lone Pine Canyon Road. In the area east of Running Springs, the closure extends east along Highway 18 to Green Valley Road, then northeast along Forest Roads 3N16 and 3N14 to the Forest boundary.
Forest Roads 1N09 and 1N13 will be closed, as well as all Forest roads and trails within the closure area.
