The news today said a portion of this fire is within 8 miles of the Big Bear area and the fire crews are working on building a 30 mile long fire break, the width of 10 dozers to protect that area from this fire. As I drove to work this morning south on the 15 FWY the mountains could be seen better than yesterday. The biggest area of smoke I could see looked like it was somewhere not to far south of where the kinely creek bridge is on HWY 173, south of where the Bradford Ridge trail begins. Another area of smoke looked to be far back in the Deep Creek drainage, probably around Devils hole. There was also some smoke in an area west of Silver wood lake. What a drastic change for all those fire fighters up there going from raging fires to freezing cold!
