As of this morning, the fire has "laid down" and no homes were reported lost yesterday or last night. The fire crews continue to take advantage of the weather to light backfires in an effort to expand firelines. The fire has spread into the upper Deep Creek area in the vicinity of Devils Hole north east of Cedar Glen. Although the weather has really knocked this monster down, it remains a sleeping dragon. It will take some time to contain it and hopefully the weather will continue to be cool with high humidity. In my years of experience as a hot shot, I have seen too many rekindles to say this thing is over. For now, we caught a huge break with the weather change and the crews can finally get a little rest. Thousands of lives will be forever changed because of this senseless act of arson. I really hope they catch the #%@#*&# that did this.
