Good news from the Village as well. As I reported last night, the cops came and let everyone know about a voluntary evacuation for the area yesterday afternoon. Mrs Bear and I were in the area last night and are happy to report we did not see any flames in the Deep Creek area. It was very dark and smokey at times but the stars were out . High winds are currently 25-30mph sustained with gusts up to 40 out of the southwest. We talked to Kevin at the Bowen Ranch and he was hanging on to his hat with all of the wind. We then went up powerline hill. The only flames visable were out in the Summit Valley/ Honda valley area. Arrowhead fires are still beyond the ridge above Squints Ranch as far as we could see.
We spent the night in the ol tin palace and I decided that the situation was undefendable with the high winds. I did firebreaks in May so I decided to trust my preparations. We grabbed a few things and left the place guarded by a bobble head smokey the bear and his hulagirl companion. Coming down the pass we did experience some raindrops on the windshield and I did put the wipers on in Devore. Time for a serious rain dance folks, this fire needs to die.
