It was a holiday weekend...Columbus Day...although that is not a day that everyone considers a holiday.
Razor blades (single-edge, of course) work best for removing candle wax. I'm still trying to get the word out to night users to please bring something, like some aluminum foil, to catch the wax when they burn candles. It is not only ugly and hard to remove, but it also creates slippery patches on dry granite.
Not sure about leaving plastic bags. It might help well-intentioned people who forgot to pack trash bags, but some of the nitwits who have been trashing the place for years simply refuse to change. The local crowd is a mixed bag...some of them are very respectful and do a lot of work to help keep the place nice, while others seem to feel that their years of residence in the area give them some special rights. It doesn't. The springs belong to all of us. Everyone who enjoys the place (and why else visit?) should help to keep it clean and healthy.
