Im happy with the shotgun only designation for Juniper Flats. Too many times the local residents have had bullets wizzing over their properties fired by beer guzzling shooters from the valley. I am all for hunting however as most who pursue this activity are responsible gun owners and follow the guidelines taught in hunter safety courses. There are many solid projectile shooters who practice responsibly as well.
Clearly, the BLM can designate appropriate areas for target shooting. This activity is incompatable with OHV use that is popular in the areas around the Stoddard Wells road. Hodge road is very close to the OHV open area. The last thing any resident or recreational user wants is to have your day ruined by getting hit with a stray bullett.
