DAILY PRESS News Article, dated August 6, 1975, "Ware's truck up for sale to pay rent"

VICTORVILLE - Another quirk has been added to the tangled legal trail evolving around John Alan Ware and his attempt to correct a 50 year old encroachment of the Bowen Ranch on its neighbors property.

Notice of a marshal's sale of a truck taken from Ware by court order has been posted in the courthouse here.

The truck, a four-wheel drive, half-ton pickup, was confiscated as a result of an order issued July 14 out of the municipal court here in payment of a judgment against Ware for $3,293 rent, plus costs and interest due on the Bowen house.

Ware had contended that he owed no rent to the current owners of the Bowen ranch since the Bowen house he formerly occupied is located on the adjoining Moss ranch to which he had a current paid lease. A county survey has since verified that the house is well inside the Moss property.

Nevertheless, the back-rent order, which resulted from a civil eviction suit against Ware by the current owners of the Bowen ranch, stands until or unless a higher court reverses it.

It is with the hope of regaining possession of the Bowen House that Ware is set to go to trial Sept. 4, in superior court in San Bernardino, against Max Hoffman of New York and other absentee owners of the ranch and their local representatives.
