This route is described in Table 1 "Proposed Specific Modifications of Designation Project Route Network" under the heading DR.2 Decision,PPA.2.2.2 Designation Project EA and Amendment Errata which states: " P_Map_69-J1299 - Open undesignated route originating from the intersection of J 1085/J 1029 south via sections 26/35, T 4N, R3W,and west via Section 1, T3N, R3W and ending at J 1003."
This route goes through the heart of the Juniper Flats ACEC and the Cottonwood Spring. It is important that this route and all other illegal motorcycle routes within the Juniper Flats ACEC remain closed to motorized traffic. This new proposed route, now designated as J 1299, is a redundant route for access to the National Forest lands in the area and will encourage trespass onto private lands in the area as well as further degradation of the natural beauty surrounding the Cottonwood Springs. Important ancient cultural sites are being damaged by non complient OHV riders. This trail is dissecting the site of an old rock cave used by Native Americans for centuries.
