Deep Creek May Gain Protection
Boxer act won't shield many areas of wilderness
By CHUCK MUELLER, Staff Writer

Deep Creek, a seasonally turbulent stream that flows from forested slopes to arid scrubland, might soon be designated San Bernardino County's only wild river and be protected under the California Wild Heritage Act of 2003.

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., has reintroduced legislation to protect 2.4 million acres containing 22 wild rivers and 78 wilderness areas throughout the state.
