As I mentioned before, Montecito Hot Springs was not destroyed by the current landowner -it burned down during the 1964 Coyote Fire.

There is still a very small pool near the bamboo and banana trees, and there is some piping that sends water down the hill to a small reservoir for resident's fire protection purposes.

Hiking to what's left of the springs is still allowed, however, about a month ago, some drug-crazed loony-toon (I happen to know who he is) hiked up to the springs with a machete to try to clear away some of the vegetation around the small pool. He tampered with the pipes and broke a valve. Lots of water began leaking out. He ducked out of any responsibility and didn't report it, however, a witness did report him and the leak to the Montecito Water District, and the big leak was fixed after a few days of excessive water loss.
