Back in the 70s, I had the oppertunity to spend about an hour as a guest of Gertie Bowen. She really liked us kids living up in the mountains and enjoyed telling stories of days gone by. As I recall, not one word was mentioned about the troubles surrounding John Ware. Why spoil the day? This visit occured after the Wares had left the old Moss Ranch. Lyle and Annie were living there and Gary Krower was living at the Bowen Ranch. I went to Gertie's apt with my good friend Annie. I feel fortunate to have had this experience. Over the years I knew other old timer mountain residents, most notably Tal Winchell (the bee man).
It appears to me that this quit cliam deed business being discussed here is nothing but trouble. But hey, this is not my trouble. It is between William Schwiess, Gail Frye and Mike Castro. All of these folks have a history of their own that rivals the stories of John Ware. DCHS inc. can take this issue to court if they wish and the sooner the better. That is the only place this discussion will be settled with any legality. For the most part, our mountain community gets along pretty darn good and we dont want the trouble associated with Gail and her crusades.
