used to go to the creek in the old days. I distinctly remember getting in early in the morning (about 1 or 2 am) and no lights in the ranch house. so I figured I'd pay on the way out. I drove the distance down to the parking area and kicked back on the seat of my truck and planned to walk in at first light. Then all hell broke loose. All of the sudden the area filled with all these people wearing pajamas and with guns strapped all over them - and lights everywhere! At first I was dumbfounded. They did all that for two bucks. Then I started laughing so hard I had trouble getting the two bucks out of my wallet. They were all red faced and didn't think it was that funny. But they finally took my two bucks and left.

Having grown up in Hawthorne, I can remember an experience that my family had from my youth regarding property disputes. It seems that our neighbor had his property surveyed and the previous owner of our house had built our house with three feet of it sitting on the neighbors property. They demanded that we move the house over on our side. My father built an inner wall and cut off the back of the house, leaving it all on our side. Later, a lawyer friend of the family upon hearing about it, researched the situation.
It turns out that the property owner has an option of requiring that, but only for seven years and nine months. After that the statue of limitations is up on a cival suit and the property owner has no recourse, so technically, we owned the property the house sat on. I am no lawyer. But this is what I was told.
