The USFS HAS decided that it is in everyone's best interest that the trail not be used, that is why they attempted to cover the trail to reseed it. Why try to connect this to Bowen Ranch?
Personally, I don't care how anyone accesses the springs as long as they do no harm. The ranger feels that use (and construction) of this trail is harmful and presents an erosion danger with the potential to harm the previously existing trail. What is your argument with me here? If you don't believe that the ranger said this, ask him.
I have said nothing that was contrary to the content of the DCV letter, simply explained what Brad told me for all of our benefit. I am not trying to eradicate the trail, but to work with the USFS to eliminate the potential erosion problem in a manner that they approve of. DCV agreed to do this at the June meeting, at which you were present, and you also agreed to this.
I do agree with Laughing Bear's suggestion that our group discourage use of this trail until the problems are resolved to the satisfaction of the USFS, but that is my opinion. Discouraging use of the trail was not discussed in our meeting, so we can try to discuss it on the forum or leave it for next month's meeting. We're not discussing the "feud" here, so can we leave off with the bullying, assumption-ridden, intimidation tactics for a moment, please, Wizard, and try to act like adults?
No need to describe the trail to me, or to make assumptions about my past experience with rain. The DCV has been working with the USFS, and I would not like to see that change.
