Paul P.,
Sorry I didn't repond to you directly last night...had someone waiting to use my computer so I rushed through a quick post. Have you seen the minutes from last month's meeting? The letter to the USFS that we are preparing does address this trail. Basically, we're asking them how we might help them to address their concerns about the trail. For example, if erosion where the trail meets the trail to Bowen Ranch is the problem, then DCV could do some trail work to make it better. Another alternative would be different 2 wheel drive access point. Personally, I would like it best if all access points could be moved to make the hike longer, because the longer the hike, the cleaner the springs, but that is just wishful thinking on my part. We'll be discussing the first draft of the letter today...hopefully have it ready to send.
Wizard,
Whatever you claim as direct experience may still be just a story to others, but it seems you do realize that. Absolutely wrong about the rock stacking, though. I'm tickled pink to see others' creations. And as I said before, I would not take it personally if I knew someone were knocking them down, so if you switch back to thinking of them as a major problem again, feel free to disassemble. Or, get those gremlins to do it. Aren't gremlins actually wizards without any power? (thought I'd ask the expert) See you at the meeting!
