Another local who spoke voiced concerns about the Round Mountain grazing allotment. Jerry and Mary are the owners of Luna Vista Ranch and Jerry had alot to say on this issue. (This is the site of the old "Welcome" ranch of former days but all of those old buildings are long gone now.) Many people arent aware of a cattle grazing allotment in the area. Jerry spoke about the destruction of riparian areas and how the cattle trample and eat everything in sight. These cattle run rampant everywhere and their owner has been negligent in keeping them on his lease and off private property. There are other concerns as well including destruction of habitat for the Desert Tortise , the San Diego Horned Lizard and the danger of having bulls running free in an area so heavily used by hikers. I think Jerry and Mary would welcome any support on this issue.
