My friend, about 5 years ago got on this gig of saying he didn't have to pay taxes. He was reading these books, and talking to people who said it was illegal for the government to collect taxes. He tried to get me to go along with his plan. I declined. Just the other day he finally realized he had to settle with the IRS, and pay 60,000 dollars in past taxes and penalties, because they had all his assets tied up with liens from the IRS. Now he is probably on a special list to be watched by them.
