Laughing Bear: My friend Dan said that he had come up to the springs on Tuesday of last week and everything was normal along that route so the cutting occured since then. There was a fresh motorcycle track on the trail. There are usually numerous tracks on that route so it would be hard to define who was responsible for the cutting. I know the USFS have in the past talked about wanting to erase that trail. If the USFS did the cutting I would ask what in the world do they think they accomplished by cutting a 20 foot wide swath of bushes down through that beautiful little canyon. It all looks more like something done out of anger than something done with some sensible, objective plan in mind. It just like someone with a tude went through that canyon with a chainsaw taking out thier anger on the plants. The way things are cut, thats what it makes me think of. If it was not the USFS then who did it, and why? That canyon was one of the few that escaped the raging Willow Fire and its destruction and kept its untouched original vegetation. All of those natural plants took many years to grow and now " someone " has gone and made a mess down there, its a shame to see.
