Howdy NSX,
To answer your questions about snakes I would like to point out that rattlesnakes are non aggressive by nature. When encountered, they will curl up and try to hide. They do not crawl into tents....they dont like the way we smell. Most people who get bit either step on them or (believe it or not) try to pick them up! They are not real common but they are encountered while hiking from time to time. If you do encounter one, simply walk around it.

Camping at the ranch costs less than a movie and vandalism is rare there these days. Its pretty much select a spot away from the house and enjoy. It does get windy from time to time so secure your tent well if that is your shelter. I prefer to sleep under the stars when the weather is good and this weekend should be great for stargazing with very little moon. Dont forget lots of water, plenty of food and a small shovel. There are no sanitary facilities there yet so bury it deep and away from any water sources. We all hope you have a great trip!
