PLEASE CALL DC ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY!

The House Interior Appropriations subcommittee in DC has just voted to extend the Recreation Fee Demo Program by another four years. By that time, the Forest Service will have become dependent on fee revenues and the program will be much harder to scrap. WE MUST STOP THIS 4-YEAR EXTENSION TO FEE DEMO!

As we did last summer, when we flooded the Appropriations Committees with Fee Demo protest mail, we've got to act right away.

The next step comes on Wednesday, June 13th, when the full House Appropriations Committee will have to vote on this extension. Please select a few names (4...5...8...even more) from the list of Appropriations Committee members below - at random - and call them before Wednesday!

Remember, DC offices close at 2 PM Pacific Time.

WHAT TO DO:
(1) Dial (202) 224-3121 - The Capitol switchboard. Ask to be connected to Congressman / Congresswoman (select from list below starting with those from your own state).

(2) Whoever picks up the phone, ask that the Congressman/Congresswoman vote AGAINST the 4-year extension to the Recreation Fee Demo Program on Wednesday, when it comes before the Appropriations Committee.

(3) That's all! If you have time to press redial and ask the Capitol switchboard to connect you to other offices, please make as many of these quick calls as you can.. You can say exactly the same to each office. It's vital that Fee Demo's extension be clearly controversial!

If this 4-year extension passes this week, we'll be trying as hard as we can to stop it as it progresses through Congress into September, when it'll go to President Bush for his signature.
