I finally had a chance to review the meeting notes. Nice job, Sycamore! It sounds like the approval of the brochure from Brad Burns is forthcoming. I think it's definitely relevant now that we move on to a discussion of a sign. Lots of things to decide on here, including:
1) what should the sign say. Should it include excerpts from the brochure to ensure consistency? Should the brochure be available at the sign?
2) Where should it be located? In my humble opinion, I think it should be at the beach across from the springs. Because people come in to Deep Creek from several different trails, they generally end up at the beach, although the spillway trail is on the other side.
3) What should the sign be made of? Wood would be aesthetically pleasing, but would surely get vandalized for firewood. A nice metal sign would be better.
4) Who will pay for it? Given federal fiscal budget constraints, I doubt the USFS could pay for it. Maybe they could pay half and DCV could pay the rest. We will need a cost estimate first. Since DCV doesn't have any funding, how can we raise money for the sign? We may have to solicit donations, or how about designing a nice t-shirt with a DCV logo and sell those to help finance the sign?
4) Obviously, we must seek input from Brad Burns on all these items and ultimately receive his approval.
Let's keep the ideas flowing on this.
