I was bit by one at the spillway in 1982. I still have the scar on my arm. It happened when my girlfriend and I sat down under a small waterfall to cool off. We didnt know it was laying up behind the waterfall and I got bit when I put my arm around my sweetie. Lesson learned.....they will defend themselves if cornered. I am not suprised that a few remain as Deep Creek is a rugged and remote canyon
