Hello everyone,
I made quite a long post this morning, but don't see it here. Maybe it disappeared when I hit "post", because I didn't check to see if it was there after I made it. Yet, the last two posts on this thread were showing as new, and I had been responding to Ron's post fro last night, which I read last night and again this morning before I posted, so why does it show up as "new"? Hopefully Rick will be able to answer; Rick?
Anyway, I'll try to recreate my message now:
Saturday was wonderful. Some DCV members and non-members were able to get to know each other a little better while the damaged pool was repaired. The area was cleaner than usual, in my experience, especially close to the springs. We picked up a very small amount of trash before we left, everything we found, and gathered some more during the hike out.
In the way of acknowledging peoples' efforts, I would like to add to Ron's list the very agreeable and helpful man who volunteered to watch the pool until late in the night, letting any night visitors know not to use it, then fill it later. I don't recall his name, or even if he gave it, but enjoyed talking with him. AZ Mike asked him about watching the pool, and he was happy to help.
Ron also mentioned the arrowhead and abalone pieces. This is the second time in my knowledge that this same pool was broken for the same thing, a few attractive trinkets with no appreciable value. I find this very sad. These items were the gifts of an artist, and should have been respected. We replaced these gifts with a couple of items that are not shiny and that have no "value." I hope this solves the problem while honoring the intent of the person who put in the other items.
If there was anything else in my earlier attempt to post, I've forgotten it now. Peace to all.
