Yucca Mountain was selected because it is in a remote area where there are not alot of people to cry "not in my backyard". The truth is the nuclear power industry keeps making more of the stuff and we have NO safe place to store it. Alternative energies are available. We dont need nuclear at all. The Bush administration is in the pocket of the energy generating industry. They make big $$$$ generating nuclear power. So of course, transporting nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain is "safe" according to the official statements from our federal government. I for one, dont believe it.
