I would also like to hear Gail's spin on her conversation. Any discussions with Barbara Boxer and any politicians should not include rants about Mike Castro. There are a multitude of real issues involving preservation of public access to DCHS including Wild and Scenic River status and endangered species issues. Discussions and letter-writing to appropriate legislators and government officials should focus on the real issues.
We all must realize that the USFS can close Deep Creek Hot Springs in a heartbeat. All it takes is one bad thing to happen down there and it's history. We cannot sit back as a collective group and do nothing. That's one reason why we're forming a group and developing a brochure. We need to educate everyone about DCHS. I've seen a lot of stupid people do a lot of stupid things down there. I know we can't keep people from being their own worst enemy, and we also can't legislate morality. But if can help make people aware of the issues at DCHS, then at least we've done what we can to try to ensure DCHS won't be closed.
