as a on again , off again San Onofre'er I must agree that San O is a pretty laid back beach with enough space and room to be alone if you want and enough crowd to interact if ya choose.
It's clean, patroled by the marines @ camp pendleton and late afternoons can be quite a freakshow or hedonistic atmosphere on occasion.
