In reference to the San Onofre handout, it starts with a welcome section which gives a breif overveiw about this beach and its clothing optional status. The boundries of the area where nudity is allowed are then discussed. Appropriate behaviour for visitors is next followed by a section that informs the visitor about the group ( Friends of San Onofre Beach ). Next a section that provides a way for interested people to become a part of this group with contact information. Next a little history of this beach area and lastly information on how to maintain good relations with the surrounding public and various agencies so as not to jeapordize the clothing optional standing of this area. Its my veiw that this handout does a fine job of informing a visitor who would want to find out more about the situation of this clothing optional site. The draft for DCHS that Ron has put together above attempts to put something together that could be a good informational and educational brochure for those in our group to give to visitors at DCHS. It is necesary to inform the public about what the group is about, what we are trying to accomplish, how people can help, reasonable behaviour in this clothing optional environment, a brief description of the status of the nudity laws in relation to any agencies the visitor may come across, and good contact information so that if the visitor is interested in joining our efforts then they have a means to find out more and they have a way to contact the main group members. All of these areas are important. DCHS needs a group of concerned people who can join together to help get the general public more informed about how to take care of the place and to help keep the place cleaner by thier efforts. If this handout we are working on is cut down to just some simple short message that states, pick up trash, don't bring glass, don't camp, DCHS is day use etc then I would suggest that the Bowen Ranch already hands out a sheet that discusses this and as any of you who regularly visits DCHS can see, problems still exist. It is my opinion that what we are trying to do here in the forming of this group is to develop something bigger that will have a greater effect than a simple sheet telling people what not to do. We are trying to build something that will bring people closer together in efforts that can help protect the springs. Now these are just my ideas on this subject and I am but just one part of the people who have showed some interest in this project. Just as we are proceeding in a democratic fashion to determine a name for this group we will of course do the same in deciding what this brochure will contain.
