I can't figure out which thread, what I want to talk about, should fall under :-) Just feel bad about the possibility of breaking AZ mike's one topic, one thread rule :-( Anyway I called Brad Burns today to tell him about the situation with the Sheriffs last weekend and to ask about his policy for the area. Brad has been involved with the DCHS area for many years. He said he has always supported that DCHS be preserved as a clothing optional environment and that is also what he intends for the future. It should be a place for all people, including families. People can hike in the forestry lands in the area around DCHS without clothes. The only stipulation is like I had thought, that if someone complains you should put your cloths on. In doing this you would not be able to be arrested. Brad said that the times when sheriffs people accompany him down to the springs they will be following his guidlines of enforcement. He said I should feel comfortable about not being arrested for nudity while in the Forest Service lands around DCHS. However, at the time I was confronted by these sherriffs I was in Forest Service lands. Brad agreed with my suggestion that it would be a good precaution to just put clothes on before any access roads come in to sight just in case you might run across a sheriff. I want to talk to Brad more about whether his rules superscede the laws a sheriff follows while in his Forest Service lands. For example if these search and rescue people that confronted me responded to an incident down at DCHS and saw me with my kids would they be in a position to arrest me despite the Forest Service policy for the area. If that is the case then there is a definite problem. The policy for the area should be stated clearly and consistent and coordinated between the agencies that might become involved in that area, otherwise parents with minor kids might find themselves arrested when they thought they were safely enjoying thier naturism. My wife has asked me to ask Brad about this and to inquire about this kind of problem in relation to the CPS. This could be a very serious situation and a threat to a family at DCHS if there is conflicting policy for the same area. If a distinct cohesive policy cannot be agreed on by the agencies then people need to be informed of this most serious problem and threat. It is a fact that it is very common that there are minor children in the clothing optional environment of DCHS. People and families need to have some solid assurance that they are not going to be arrested down there as long as they are conducting themselves in a responsible manner. Brad pointed out to me that I have still been making the mistake of calling the lands at DCHS Forestry lands when they are actually USFS or Forest Service lands. I must have a genetic flaw that makes me do that but I will do my best not to make that mistake again. Brad said that when he and the other officer went down to the springs on Saturday that there were about 30 people that had to be told it was time to leave. I'm sure some people do not take it so well that they are being told to leave but its important to remember that Brad is just doing his job as mandated by the laws of his territory. Brad really likes the springs and I must say that I feel from my conversations with him that we are fortunate to have a person like him in charge of enforcement for that area. We could be dealing with someone who would rather see the springs closed or not be clothing optional. As I suggested he definitely wants to review the flier we are working on before it can be handed out. I know he is hopeful, as we are that this group of concerned visitors does grow into something helpful and meaningful. At this time I am working on gathering enough information to get to the point were my wife once again feels comfortable enough that it will be safe for me to be at the springs enjoying naturism with my kids without the threat of being arrested, just because I have no clothes on. Brads information has encouraged her but we need to answer more clearly the questions that I posed above. I will keep exploring the issue. Happy Soakin :-)
