Well...I AM sorry that I did not see Emmet Berg's post as I would have responded to it. However, I do not think that that would have improved his article. I am sure that others responded to his request for input on what the springs means to the soaking community, but he chose to write what he did for his own reasons.
Even a beginning journalist, and even one who does only freelance or occaisional work, knows that you put all of the things that you want noticed or remembered near the beginning of your article, because the majority do not read entire articles. Emmet may have requested 'what the springs means' type of info, but he opened his story with the worst kind of sensationalism and innuendo and made the place sound absolutely creepy. His history of the springs also left out the group of people who used the springs for longer than any other: Native Americans!! He said he had been reading the forum, and that he visited the site at least once, yet he chose to portray so much negative and so little positive, and at that saved all the positive for the end of the article!
