Wizard, I'm sorry to hear about this upsetting turn of events. I'm sure anything that would threaten your family like that must be very frightening, and I don't blame you for losing sleep over it. I have always felt that bringing your children to Deep Creek, where they not only develop a wonderful and intimate relationship with nature but also are around people who are comfortable with their bodies and not ashamed of them, was a wonderful parenting decsision on your part. These sheriffs' reactions are terribly close-minded and ignorant, and they demonstrate the level of shame and perversion that our society is at. However, I think your idea of hiking in and out of the springs with shorts is a reasonable solution. It's a small compromise to make for piece of mind. No one would arrest you for being down at the springs with your kids. Your situation is interesting though and it might be something that a local paper might want to run a story on. It just feels so injust. I think of how native Californians would always walk around naked - the women with just a front cover. This is how humans have always been historically. How low we've all sunk.
