Yesterday, July 12, 2002, I spoke to Christina Lewis, a legislative analyst at Barbara Boxer's Office in Washington, D. C. Her number (202) 224-3553. She looked up Deep Creek and recognized that there was no recreational designation for Deep Creek. She said the Wild and Scenic Rivers allows recreational activities which includes hiking, no taking your mountain bike across through the stream,horseback riding, etc. She had never experienced the affect of a hotsprings along a wild and scenic river.

She suggested that I look up the California Wild Heritage Campaign, Friends of the River in Los Angeles, National Wild & Scenic River System, and something about National Wilderness Preservation. She said these groups have been actively involved in designating these areas for Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers and would have considered Deep Creek and probably have a vision for its future.

Well, that is the update. She also said to contact the local U. S. Forest Service. I will post these links as I locate them on the empowerment link.

It maybe important to have our recreational use recognized and made a part of this bill.
I think we need to know before this bill passes.
