Thanks Wizard. We agree on the trash and waste. I guess I don't see access as a huge issue, although the publicity around new shorter "free" trails has its disturbing implications in terms of increasing the usage. It is always a plus to me when a special place is not too easy to access. I used to visit a waterfall that was like that...a lot of people knew that it was there and that it was beautiful, but not many wanted to actually do the hiking required to see it.
Hopefully, at least the "regulars" will do their part and some extra towards cleanup. I have observed that some do a lot. Maybe the area to focus on is in approaching others with regard to clean-ups. Some people will not clean up after themselves even when asked nicely and then reminded, but many other people will carry out just an item or two of extra trash if asked, even if they are young people and/or like to "party." Often, just knowing that there are people there who care and who are watching, even when it is clear that there is no coercive power involved, is enough to keep most people on "good behavior."
