Both the original Bowen Ranch entrance and the new campground are open now. Last week we went in through the original entrance. $5 a person. Mike has improved the road (thank you, Mike) to two new parking areas and he gives you a map. Yes, this is a little further away from the Deep Creek trailhead, but not much. And parking is easy. The lower parking area was full but plenty of space in the upper parking area. You do need to hike around a fence (as noted elsewhere owners of the new campground have blocked off the old entrance). But the hike is easy and scenic--maybe ten minutes extra hiking time. Keep going parallel to the fence (first sorta south, then west but it is easy to see where to go). Keep walking past the boat (yes, there is a boat in the middle of the trail but do not turn left there--that trail goes to the springs but takes much longer and can be a bit confusing). If you keep walking parallel to the fence west past the boat you will find the old trailhead sign. Turn left there and enjoy the hike! My understanding is that the new campground has a more expensive daily use fee but is a bit closer. We like using the original entrance and the new parking area worked fine. We had a great time.
