I've made the hike to the Springs in every conceivable type of weather, but a few years ago we had record high 118F temps at DCHS and I made the hike (more than once during that time) and honestly, couldn't tell the difference (significantly) between 104 and 118. It's the "dry heat" thing, I guess. I suppose too, it's a matter of conditioning. BTW, you must be nuts to hike out in the most fiercely hot time of the day: Noon to 4pm...unless you absolutely must. In fact, wait till late afternoon when shadows are cast on the the Goat Trail, and may there be a cool breeze in your face on the way out.
