I was laughing to myself last night when thinking about all the things I have seen and experienced on my visits to the springs since I first visited in 1984. I should right a book about it. Round and round the people have gone, argueing and fighting about access. Will it ever stop? It would be nice if people got along better up there. I have always gone to the springs with a peaceful spirit. I have always done my best to do things to help DCHS and I've done alot. It is a place I have enjoyed very much with my family and kids and a big part of the fun is visiting with the many good people I have met down there. DCHS is not mine, it is ours. I want what is fair for all of us regarding our use of the springs. I want to protect it as much as any of you do. We are just having trouble in agreeing on what is best for the springs. I agree that to many people at the springs does bring more problems. This is a coming reality that will have to be dealt with in some fashion. I am satisfied with the open routes the way the are but because of recent stories of vandalism they show themselves to be not as safe as I had felt they were in the past. I do not know who is doing this vandalism. What good is an open route if you can't park there safely. Apart from this specific problem I don't agree with the notion that the folks entering by these open routes are anymore of a problem than those that go through the Bowen Ranch. Of course some of you posting here don' t agree with that. I don't control what routes are open. If the BLM and the USFS decide that there is a big enough problem up there then they are the ones who have the authority to make any access route changes. I will continue to visit by the various routes I know of doing my best not to be affected by those who do evil deeds like car vandalism. As Paul and Sycamore have discussed recently, it is best for our special springs if we all do our best to be civil and get along. The more we work together and not against eachother, the better the future will be for DCHS.
